I studied tax and business law at Leiden University. After graduating I worked as a tax consultant for Schutte & Jorna and Buruma Maris in Rotterdam. From 1995 to 2003 I was employed by PriceWaterhouseCoopers in The Hague. In 2003 several colleagues and I started our own firm, Maurits Advies in The Hague, which is now a partnership. My specialist areas of expertise are inheritance and gift tax, foundations, trust law, wealth management and structuring and restructuring. I also hold various management posts with charitable foundations. In 2005 I founded ZZF (the Rare Diseases Fund) of which I am chairman. The Fund promotes the interests of people with a rare disease.

I was born in Rotterdam in 1972 where I also grew up. I studied tax law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and after graduating I joined Coopers & Lybrand as a tax consultant in 1992. After 11 years there I and a number of colleagues concluded that we could provide a better service to clients in a smaller organisation. In 2003 we therefore founded Maurits Advies in The Hague and has now become a partnership. My work consists mainly of providing all kinds of tax advice to both businesses and private individuals, preparing and keeping accounts and drafting and filing all kinds of tax returns. I am also specialised in providing advice and assistance to expats.
Since 2016 I am also active as treasurer at ZZF (the Rear Diseases Fund).

I have worked as a tax consultant since 2001. Prior to 2005 I worked in the tax returns practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. During this period I also took evening classes in fiscal economics at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and the University of Amsterdam. At the end of 2005 I joined my former colleagues who had founded Maurits Advies in 2003 (now a partnership). My work now consists mainly of providing tax consultancy services to businesses and their management and to high net-worth individuals. I also do the accounts and file tax returns for many of these clients. Advising and assisting expats is another of my activities.
